The aim of our organisation is to bring together quilters throughout Victoria, promoting the art of patchwork and quilting, while supporting and encouraging the establishment and activities of quilting groups.
Victorian Quilters Inc. aims to foster interest in the history of patchwork and quilting, as well as to encourage high standards of design and workmanship in both traditional and contemporary areas.
We sponsor and support patchwork and quilting activities, specifically lectures, workshops and exhibitions.
As at February 2016, Victorian Quilters Inc. has a membership of 393 individuals and 88 member groups.
Victorian Quilters Inc. meets four times a year. These Gatherings are hosted by member groups and are a wonderful way for patchworkers and quilters from all over the State to get together and share their love of the craft.
We publish a quarterly magazine, Vic Quilter, which is distributed to all members and sponsors.
Like many voluntary organisations, Victorian Quilters Inc. elects a Committee to take care of the day to day business. Elections are held annually and all members are encouraged to take part in the committee process.
Each year, the Victorian Quilters Inc. Quilt Showcase is held in association with The Craft and Quilt Fair. This judged exhibition brings together the work of members in a display of colour and talent. Quilt Showcase is held in July of each year.
One Step Further is another exciting exhibition which seeks to further the skills and boundless imagination of quilt and textile artists. This exhibition is open to all quilt artists.
Quilts of Love & Very Snuggly Quilts is a community project where generous crafters can make and donate quilts to the families of stillborn babies or to children attending hospital.
