Teacher Accreditation

A comprehensive program has been adopted by Victorian Quilters to recognize competent teaching of basic and specialist quilt-making skills.  Teacher Accreditation is not a training program, but rather a recognition of proven skills.

For further information see the VQ website, www.victorianquilters.org or contact Lynette Blainey at teacheraccreditation@victorianquilters.org

Basic Techniques – This program is for people already teaching or wishing to teach basic patchwork and quilting techniques.  The program is divided into three stages:

  • assessing practical work and technical skill
  • organizational ability in preparing lesson plans
  •  a personal interview assessing communication skills.

A mentor is available to support and assist with preparing the lesson plan.

There is a fee of $70

Workshop Techniques – This program is for those teachers who have well developed workshops teaching their own unique designs in traditional or contemporary patchwork, without ever teaching the basics of patchwork and quilting.

This program requires submission of a CV demonstrating your teaching background, and a personal interview with peers, providing samples of your work.

There is a fee of $30

Special Techniques – This program is for those teachers who specialize in various advanced techniques, whether used in traditional quilt making or innovative art, without ever teaching the basics of patchwork and quilting.  As for Workshop Techniques, this program requires submission of a CV demonstrating your teaching background, and a personal interview with peers, providing samples of your chosen technique.

There is a fee of $30
